Papers include correspondence, clippings, records and other materials collected by Norris from 1928 to his death in 1952. Most of his papers prior to 1928 were destroyed in a fire at the First Baptist Church, Ft. Worth, Texas. The papers document the fundamentalist movement with the denomination from the 1920's into the post World War II period. Topics include the 1928 presidential campaign, the evolution controversy, Norris's charges of Communist sympathies on noted American churchmen, and his standing controversy with the agencies of the Southern Baptist Convention and the Baptist General Convention of Texas.
